What is the best way to learn

about Maury County History?

To join the Maury County Historical Society and get involved!!  Members meet every other month at places of historical significance in and around Maury County and learn history from historical home owners, local historians, lecturers, and enjoy friendships with other historophiles.

Where may I find information on my family history?

The best starting point to begin your research on the history of Maury County, its families, businesses, and events is to visit the 

Maury County Archives

located at 201 E. 6th Street

Open to the Public Monday -Thursday, 8am-6pm.

Where may I find more information on Maury County's African American History Driving Tour?

The MTSU Center for Historic Preservation and the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area, a partnership unit of the National Park Service administered by the Center for Historic Preservation published a Driving Tour Brochure with photos and histories and maps to homes, churches, cemeteries and historical markers of note in Maury county. 

Where may I find help preserving my family cemetery?

 General Information, Laws, And Guidelines may be downloaded here. Plus, the Tennessee Historical Commission now has a Cemetery Preservation Specialist who may be able to assist you.
