Maury County Remembers World War II, Vols. 1 & 2 ©1999 is dedicated to all the family, neighbors, and friends from Maury County who served and many who gave their lives for our county. The book was written to honor and document the heroics and exploits of these men and women for our generation and for generations yet to come. Included are both cadets from the Columbia Military Academy who left Maury County to serve, but never returned, and those who lived in Maury county their entire lives except for their time away at war serving our country.

Maury Countians are patriotic people. The county was founded in 1807 by many men who fought in the American Revolution. Since that time, citizens of Maury County have volunteered to serve in every war in which the country has been engaged. In the words of the poet Milton, “They also serve who only stand and wait,” and for this reason, recollections of those serving on the homefront are also included.
